Peninsula Health is opening a combined drive-through and walk-in COVID-19 Screening Clinic on the Frankston Hospital Campus.
The new testing site, on the corner of Hastings Road and Yuille Street (formerly Frankston Tennis Club), will be open from Friday 6 November.
The Frankston Hospital drive-through and walk-in Screening Clinic will replace the drive-through Screening Clinic outside Frankston District Basketball Association in Seaford and the walk-in Screening Clinic at John Madder Hall, Frankston Hospital. Both are closed, as of 4pm (Basketball Stadium) and 12pm (John Madder Hall) Thursday 5 November.
The new combined COVID-19 Screening Clinic is accessible by vehicle and on foot, via Yuille Street, near the Hastings Road intersection. The new location will be open 8.30am to 6pm daily. No booking or GP referral is required, and all ages are welcome to be tested. Vehicle passengers can also be tested.
Peninsula Health’s Acting Executive Director of Medical Services, Dr Shyaman Menon, is reminding everyone of the importance to continue to get tested as restrictions ease.
“Please come forward and get tested at the first sign of any COVID-19 symptoms –however slight they may seem,” says Dr Menon.
“As Victorians move around more and start socialising it is important that people continue to come forward to get tested, so we can identify any cases of COVID-19 in the community and stop any potential spread of the virus.”
Symptoms may include fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose and loss or change in sense of smell or taste.
Jodi Foley, Operations Director of Peninsula Health’s Screening Clinics, says it is quick and easy to get tested at one of our sites across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
“If you’re coming to the Frankston Hospital Screening Clinic, we encourage you to make full use of the opening hours, and come throughout the day,” adds Ms Foley
“Once you have been tested, it is important to return home and isolate until you receive your negative result.”
Since January, Peninsula Health has conducted more than 90,000 COVID-19 tests, including over 16,000 at the Basketball Stadium and more than 27,500 at John Madder Hall.
“We’d like to say thank you to the Frankston District Basketball Association for the cooperation and support to allow us to use their stadium and the surrounding car park, as a drive-through testing location over recent months,” says Ms Foley.
“We’d also like to acknowledge the support of Frankston City Council, Mornington Peninsula Shire, and Scouts Victoria, for enabling us to use their venues as testing sites.”
